Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
Reckon ("Reckon," "we," "us") provides a property-tracing tool for people going through divorce. We handle sensitive financial information, and we treat it that way. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. By using Reckon you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier. If you register with a password, we store your email and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your Google password.
- Documents you upload. Bank, brokerage, retirement, and other financial statements (PDFs), and all data extracted from them — transactions, balances, dates, account numbers, and institution names.
- Case details you enter. Marriage and separation dates, the state governing your case, the accounts you are tracing, and any classifications or notes you provide.
- Technical data. Basic log and security data (IP address, timestamps, request errors) needed to operate and protect the service.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to provide the service: to parse your statements, trace funds across accounts, apply the relevant state property law, generate your tracing memo, and keep your account secure. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your financial documents for advertising.
Automated document parsing (third-party AI)
To read your statements, the contents of your uploaded documents are sent to Google's Gemini API for text extraction and parsing. We use a paid Google API tier, under which Google states it does not use your data to train its models. Parsing is automated; you can review and correct what the parser extracts.
Where your data is stored and how it's protected
Your data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Documents are stored in Google Cloud Storage; structured data in a managed PostgreSQL database (Neon). All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and protected by access controls so that you can only access your own cases. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Service providers (subprocessors)
- Google Cloud Platform — application hosting and document storage.
- Google Gemini API — automated parsing of uploaded statements.
- Neon — managed PostgreSQL database.
- Google OAuth — optional "Sign in with Google" authentication.
- Resend — delivery of transactional email (email verification and password-reset links). Your email address is shared with Resend solely to deliver these messages.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your documents and case data for as long as your account is active so you can return to your tracing work. You may delete individual documents, delete a case, or request deletion of your entire account and its data at any time by contacting us at the address below. On account deletion we remove your documents and case data from active systems; residual copies in routine backups are purged on our normal backup cycle.
Your rights
You may access, correct, export, or delete your information. Depending on where you live (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have additional rights, including the right to know what we hold and the right to deletion. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact us.
Children
Reckon is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated to you.
